Gum Arabic (GA) is a natural gum obtained from two species of acacia trees; Acacia senegal andAcacia seyal. These trees are average sized trees with thorns that grow in the Sudan Gum Belt Savanna region. GA is widely used in both the pharmaceutical and food industries as Gold Standard emulsifier and stabilizer, recognized as E414 by WHO and FAO. It is marketed as Al Manna(Acacia senegal) and Tayebat(Acacia senegal and Acacia seyal). GA is made up of polysaccharides, oligosaccharides, proteins, fats, minerals and vitamins essential for human nutrition. It consists of 85% prebiotic compared to 10% found in mother’s milk.
